Hyderabad: On Wednesday, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao sent his greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi a day ahead of the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Parliament building in New Delhi.
The chief minister said in a letter to the Prime Minister: “I join you with a sense of pride on the occasion of laying the foundation stone for the grand project of Central Vista.”
Expressing that the Central Vista is long overdue, the CM said the current government infrastructure in the national capital is inadequate and furthermore associated with our colonial past.
Rao believed that the new Central Vista project would be a representation of prestige, self-esteem, and national pride of a resurgent, confident, and strong India. He wished for fast completion of the prestigious and nationally significant undertaking.
The intended project is assessed to have a seating limit of 900 to 1200 Member of Parliament (MPs).
The support by the Telangana Chief Minister to the Central Vista project comes when the KCR has authorized Rs 617 crores for a new secretariat building. In July of this year, the government of TRS demolished the Telangana secretariat overnight without issuing any notice.
The Supreme Court is currently hearing petitions that have challenged the Central Vista project. On Monday the court permitted the laying of the foundation stone yet with limitations on cutting trees or beginning construction work until all petitions are heard.
Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the new building on Thursday. The ceremony will be visited by representatives and leaders of all parties who will be available physically or through virtual mode.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday declared that the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the new Parliament building will be conducted on December 10 at 1 pm. The Lok Sabha speaker included that the ‘bhumipujan’ will be directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
Om Birla additionally said that on the completion of 75 years of India’s independence, the Winter session of both the upper and the lower house will start in the new Parliament building.
