KCR land record purification caused street brawls in villages, CPI demands probe & Rs 25 lakh ex gratia

Hyderabad: Stating that street brawls erupted in the villages after Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao directed the officials to survey every inch of land under Land Records Cleansing, State CPI president Chada Venkat Reddy today alleged that the Revenue officials from lower level to Mandal Revenue Officer were playing with the lives of small farmers by extorting money from Rs 1,000 to lakhs of rupees from the hapless farmers.

Citing an incident of a murder recently in Kandikutkoor village under Illanthakunta mandal, the CPI leader said the so-called land records purification drive has stirred a hornet’s nest in the villages leading to brawls, murders and suicides. He urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to take note of the violent incidents in the villages and direct the officials to demarcate boundaries to the lands as per the survey numbers.

The CPI leader requested the Chief Minister to apply his mind to the new problem and order a comprehensive inquiry into the Illanthakunta murder incident. He also demanded that the government announce Rs 25 lakh ex gratia to the kin of those died in the “Land Battles”. Stating that though the government had appointed Collectors to all the 30 districts in the State, he said there were no adequate staff at the field level and urged the Chief Minister to respond to the issue immediately.
