KCR Urban Eco Park in Mahabubnagar will soon have rare, exotic birds

Visitors to the KCR Urban Eco Park, already a popular destination in the state, will soon have the opportunity of seeing rare and exotic birds as an exclusive aviary is being built on the park grounds.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is expected to lay the foundation for the bird enclosure at the park while on his visit to Mahabubnagar on Friday, according to Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud.

The aviary is said to house 800 different exotic birds and would be the one of its kind in the country. He explained that the idea was to provide an additional attraction for park visitors. The Minister inspected the site location and met with forest officials here, accompanied by district Collector S Venkat Rao and other officials on Thursday.

As per the forest officials, the aviary would be built in an area spread over two acres. Visitors can walk along the aviary’s pathways and get up close and see the rare exotic birds arranged that are arranged from different places.

The project has already been approved by the forest department. The tourism department would fund the construction of the aviary, which would cost Rs.2.70 crore.

Soon after the technical and administrative sanctions are granted, tenders will be issued to begin project work. According to a forest department official, the aviary will take about eight months to complete because exotic birds must be arranged from various locations.

The KCR Urban Eco Park is one of Asia’s largest eco parks, spanning over 2,087 acres. Telangana Tourism has already established several adventure sports, such as sky cycling, zip line, zorbing, archery, and rifle shooting, and the park’s bird enclosure will be an added attraction. The park sees a lot of visitors on weekends, especially from Hyderabad, which is only a two-hour drive away.
