Kishan Reddy-Eatala Rift Hinders BJP’s Telangana Campaign

The ongoing friction between State BJP unit president G Kishan Reddy and party election management committee chairman Eatala Rajender is causing complications for other party leaders as they engage in election campaigning across Telangana.

According to sources within the BJP party, the strained relationship between the two leaders has led to significant confusion and unrest among party members. During a recent visit to the Hyderabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in the Telangana unit of the party, particularly highlighting the lack of coordination among senior leaders. He advised both Kishan Reddy and Eatala Rajendar to set aside their differences and collaborate for the party’s success in the upcoming Telangana assembly elections.

BJP State election in-charge Prakash Javadekar also voiced his displeasure with the behavior of Kishan Reddy and Eatala Rajendar, urging them to resolve their differences and concentrate on strengthening the party’s grassroots presence. He emphasized that the party had already wasted significant time dealing with internal conflicts and cautioned that failure to launch a robust election campaign immediately would pose challenges in competing with the ruling BRS, which had already announced its candidates and commenced its campaign.

Eatala reportedly encountered difficulties in garnering support from the BJP’s central leadership, limiting his ability to make independent decisions regarding the election campaign. Additionally, party veterans were said to be obstructing his efforts and hindering his program initiatives. Eatala, who also heads the party’s joining committee, faced criticism for his inability to persuade senior leaders from rival parties to join the BJP.

Many State BJP leaders and functionaries are of the opinion that replacing Bandi Sanjay with Kishan Reddy has not benefitted the party in any meaningful way. They argue that the ongoing discord among the leaders is causing significant unrest within the party’s rank and file.”
