Hyderabad: Municipal Minister K T Rama Rao today made a surprise visit to two bedroom housing facility works at Kollur in Ramachandrapuram mandal near city. Along with Mayor B Rammohan, GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy and officials the minister inspected the works at the dignity housing facility. He interacted with the officials and contractors about the housing works and instructed to complete avoiding delay.
As part of the 2BHK scheme, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is constructing a record 15,660 housing units in 124 acres. The High-rise Model Township will provide housing to 70,000 people.
KT Rama Rao sought the officials to ensure that the works are completed on time with quality. The Government is committed for providing permanent shelter for the poor free of cost he said. He asked the officials to coordinate with work agencies for speedy completion of the works and ensure their early distribution. The Government he said has been constructing more than 2 lakhs of housing units for the poor including 1.20 lakh units in the city alone he remarked.
In three shifts, 3,500 labor workers and 400 officials are working for 24 hours on this prestigious project. “Along with Minister, we are constantly supervising the work through CCTV cameras which are set up at the housing site, said the officials. (NSS)
