KTR Mocks Congress’s Promises in Telangana Elections

K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), took the podium on Tuesday to mock the Congress party’s six pledges for Telangana. KTR, a famous state minister, warned that if the Congress came to power in Telangana, the people would be promised a change of chief minister every year, political instability, and a host of issues.

During a meeting at Telangana Bhavan, KTR further claimed that the cost of the Congress’s promises surpassed Telangana’s total budget. In his speech, he said, “If you vote for the Congress, we can guarantee power outages, a drinking water crisis, and fertilizer and seed shortages.”

KTR went on to say that a Congress-led government would ensure that crucial initiatives like Rythu Bandhu and Dalit Bandhu will be phased out. He advised Telangana residents not to be fooled by the Congress’s false promises, implying that the party was seeking to purchase votes. KTR stated that because Congress leaders had gained enormous riches through deception, the public should accept these gifts while voting for the BRS.

Meanwhile, state finance minister Harish Rao criticized Congress at a separate gathering. He predicted that if the Congress took control, it would not respect the six promises it had made. Instead, they would ensure a ministerial change every six months, impose a curfew in Hyderabad for six months, and offer just six hours of power for agricultural reasons. Additionally, Congress MLAs would earn 30 free airline tickets per year, and companies would enjoy two weekly power outages.

Harish Rao joked that if the Congress won power in Telangana, Bengaluru would become the state’s second high command, with legislators routinely commuting to Delhi via Bengaluru. These animated answers come ahead of the state’s forthcoming assembly elections, which are slated for November-December.
