KTR slams BJP for failing to fulfill promises to Telangana

Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao has slammed the BJP-led Centre for failing to fulfill several promises to the state, stating that the saffron party’s promises are just “Jhumla and Jhoot.”

TRS social media convenor Y Sathish Reddy tagged BJP national chief JP Nadda, the party’s Munugode bypoll candidate K Rajagopal Reddy, and the party’s state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, asking if the saffron party’s promises had been fulfilled.

“This is what ‘JP Nadda’ has promised in 2016, – 300 bed hospital in Marriguda – Fluoride research center in Choutuppal – Special assistance to fluoride victims How many of it have fulfilled? Kindly answer @JPNadda ji, @krg_reddy, @bandisanjay_bjp garu? @krg reddy, and @bandisanjay bjp garu.”

“In 2016, as the then Union Health Minister JP Nadda ji promised a hospital for Marriguda, Research Centre at Choutuppal but did his NPA Government deliver?”

KTR responded to the tweet by saying, “Just jhumlas and jhoot is what BJP and Nadda is all about.”

The battle lines have been drawn for the Telangana Assembly by-election in Munugode. The November 3 bypoll will be a three-cornered contest, with the outcome crucial ahead of the state Assembly elections next year.

The by-election will be a battle for prestige between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the opposition Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The Assembly seat became vacant after Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned from the Congress to join the BJP.

As a victory in the byelection is expected to provide a psychological advantage ahead of the 2023 battle, the main players are planning to go all out to register a victory.

After wresting Dubbak and Huzurabad from the TRS in the last two years, the BJP is aiming for a hat-trick of bypoll victories. The ruling party, which wrested Huzurnagar from the Congress and kept Nagarjunasagar, is doing everything it can to halt the saffron surge.

The Congress is desperate to keep Munugode in order to win its first bypoll since the 2018 elections.

The BJP has chosen Rajagopal Reddy as its candidate, while the TRS has chosen K. Prabhakar Reddy, who won the seat in 2014 but was defeated by Rajagopal Reddy in 2018.

The Congress has fielded a female candidate. Palvai Sravanthi is the daughter of former MP Palvai Goverdhan Reddy.

After the deadline for withdrawing nominations expired on Monday, a total of 47 candidates remained in the running.

A total of 130 candidates had filed nominations, with 47 being rejected on technical grounds by the election authority. 36 of the remaining 83 candidates withdrew their nominations before the Monday deadline.

All 36 candidates who withdrew their nominations had filed their papers as independents.

In addition to the candidates from the three major political parties, 11 smaller parties are in the fray. Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and Bahujan Samaj Party are among the other parties (BSP).
