Lakhimpur Kheri Violence Reaches Canada; South Asians Take To Streets To Demand Justice

In the latest update, the Lakhimpur Kheri violence has not only gotten the entire country in outrage but has reached the international soil as well. Reports suggest that the South Asians in Canada’s British Columbia recently took to the streets to protest against the incident.

Participants Of The Rally Demand Justice For The Victims’ Families 

As per the latest reports, the rally was organised by an online magazine Radical Desi that covers alternate politics. The rally was conducted on Friday outside the Indian Visa and Passport Application Centre in Surrey.

The participants in the rally demanded justice for the victim’s families along with the arrests for those who are involved in the incident. They also demand the suspension of Mishra.

The participants of the rally are of the opinion that the farmers were protesting against the three farm laws peacefully when the incident took place. To show their support, a moment of silence was held before starting the rally and the victim’s names were read out loud. The ones who attended the rally held signs asking for justice for the victims.

Raman Kashyap, a freelance journalist who was killed during the violence along with the farmers who had already lost their lives, was also remembered. They further demanded action against the father and the son who has been accused of the violence.

Some of the renowned speakers joined the rally. It includes community activists like Imtiaz Popat, Rakesh Kumar, Kulwinder Singh, Kesar Singh Baghi and some media personalities like Navjot Dhillon, Gurvinder Singh Dhaliwal and Radical Desi director Gurpreet Singh.

Ashish Mishra Escapes Questioning 

Ashish Mishra, son of Junior Home Minister Ajay Mishra, was brought in for questioning after sxi days of the incident that left eight people dead. Even thought the farmers claim that Ashish Mishra is the one who killed the protesting farmers. But the Mishra family has denied the claims.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has asked the UP government to investigate the matter “properly” and submit the report soon.
