LB Nagar Flyover Plagued by Daily Traffic Jams for Commuters

Since its inauguration on March 25, 2023, the LB Nagar flyover has become a hub of traffic congestion, posing challenges for daily commuters. Vehicles move slowly on both ends of the flyover, exacerbated by factors such as a district bus-stop along routes leading to Vijayawada, particularly crowded during festival seasons.

On the opposite route toward Dilsukhnagar, officials have installed rumble strips at the lane ends to prevent accidents near a temple. Additionally, the placement of barricades on the flyover has narrowed the road, causing bottlenecks.

Authorities noted that despite the flyover’s utility, congestion remains a persistent issue. Daily, traffic piles up below the flyover, especially where vehicles from Nagole and Hayathnagar intersect with those heading towards Vijayawada. This convergence contributes to delays, frustrating commuters like Shiva Kumar, who criticize the construction’s efficacy given ongoing congestion.

Under the flyover, four bus-stops—serving Nagole, Hayathnagar, Bairamalguda, and Dilsukhnagar—are key points for RTC buses, private cabs, and autos, contributing significantly to traffic buildup. Many vehicles, including autos, bikes, and TSRTC buses, avoid using the flyover altogether.

Traffic personnel acknowledge the confusion faced by newcomers navigating the flyover’s routes without clear destination signage, further complicating the congestion issue
