Light to moderate rainfall likely in Hyderabad this weekend

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Saturday and Sunday will see cloudy skies, moderate rainfall, and thunderstorms in the State capital.

Over the weekend, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to be around 23 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday morning, parts of Hyderabad experienced rainfall with a maximum temperature of 32.4 degrees Celsius and relative humidity of 69%, according to the weather agency.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, rain is expected to fall between 0.3 mm and 2.5 mm in all localities, including LB Nagar, Malakpet, Uppal, Saroornagar, Secunderabad, Rajendranagar, Amberpet, Kukatpally, Khairtabad, Kapra, Hayatnagar, Charminar, Jubilee Hills, and Musarambaghuntil Sunday morning.

Until Monday, the city is likely to experience the same weather pattern.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rains with isolated heavy falls (64.5 mm-115.5 mm), thunderstorms, and lightning are all very likely across Andhra Pradesh from Friday to Sunday (August 26-28) and Telangana over the weekend (August 27-28).

Due to the heavy rainfall forecast, almost all districts in these states have been placed under a yellow watch. Residents are advised to be aware of the local weather situation.

For the duration of the three-day forecast period, the weather alert will also apply to the districts of Vishakhapatnam and Guntur (which includes Amravati) in Andhra and Hyderabad in Telangana. As a result, residents of these major cities should plan their weekends accordingly.

Meanwhile, in terms of monthly rainfall, Telangana (151.7 mm) and Andhra Pradesh (111.7 mm) have both recorded precipitation this August which is 19% and 4% lower than their respective averages.

However, since the start of the monsoon (June 1 to August 25), both Telangana (829.8 mm) and Andhra (374.3 mm) have recorded above-normal rains, exceeding their seasonal averages by 55% and 10%, respectively.
