Lily Singh Takes Farmers Protests To The Grammys

Lily Singh recently broke the news by taking the farmer’s protests to the Grammys. She wore a facemask to the grammy with the words “I Stand With Farmers” written all over it.

Lily Singh Created Hashtag At The Grammys

The Indian-Canadian comedian and Youtube took to the 63rd Grammy Awards to show her support towards the farmers protests in India. In a tweet, she posted a picture of herself wearing the mask which supported the farmers. She wrote in the caption that Grammy Awards gets a lot of coverage and her supporting the farmers in an event like that would further highlight the issue.

In the tweet, Singh asked the media to run with the hashtag #IStandWithFarmers #GRAMMYs.

The tweet has taken over the internet and people have some mixed opinions about the same. While some appreciated her ways of raising awareness about the much heated issue. And some asked actress Priyanka Chopra to make statements for the same.

Farmers protest is an issue that have been raised globally. It has been discussed in international parliaments and also amongst celebrities like Rihanna and activist Greta Thunberg.

The 63rd Grammy Awards was held on Sunday night at the Los Angeles Convention Centre. It was hosted by Trevor Noah.

What Are The Farmer’s Protests?

Farmers have been protesting in the national capital of India, Delhi against the agricultural bills passed by the government. The protest has been going on from over one hundred days and took a violent turn on Independence Day (January 26, 2021).

There have been ten rounds of discussion between the farmer’s union and the central government. But none of them have been fruitful.
