Authorities in Makkah have announced the introduction of free luggage storage facilities for Umrah performers, providing them with added convenience during their pilgrimage. The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque (Pbuh) confirmed the new initiative, which aims to enhance the experience of worshippers visiting one of Islam’s holiest sites.
The luggage storage facilities are located in two areas: to the east of the Grand Mosque near the Makkah Library, and to the west, near Gate 64. These locations were carefully chosen to be easily accessible for Umrah performers, who often travel with their personal belongings. To access the free storage service, Umrah performers must present their permits through the Nusuk app, which is used for managing various aspects of the pilgrimage.
The storage service is designed to accommodate small bags, with each item allowed weighing up to 7 kilograms. However, the service is strictly for bags and does not permit the storage of loose items. Items such as food, medicine, prohibited goods, and valuables are not allowed to be stored. Upon storing their belongings, Umrah performers will be issued a claim ticket, which must be presented in order to retrieve their bags after the allotted storage time.

The free luggage storage service is available for a maximum duration of four hours, offering Umrah performers the flexibility to complete rituals or take a break without the burden of carrying heavy luggage. This new initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the General Authority to improve the experience of visitors to the Grand Mosque, making it easier for them to focus on their religious duties.
The authority has also announced plans to expand this service in the near future, with plans to extend the storage facilities to other areas surrounding the Grand Mosque. This expansion will ensure that more visitors can benefit from this convenience as they perform their Umrah pilgrimage.
This service marks a significant step in enhancing the overall experience of Umrah performers, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to providing quality services to its visitors, especially during the high-demand pilgrimage seasons.
