Telangana Hajj committee establishes 24×7 Hajj control room

Mohammed Saleem, the chairman of the Telangana State Hajj Committee, announced that 754 hajj pilgrims from the state have arrived in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and have completed their Umrah.

To monitor the situation and provide assistance, the TS Hajj Committee’s office has a 24-hour Hajj control room (phone numbers 040-2939 0081 and 040-2939 0026), the chairman said.

The third group of pilgrims will depart from Hyderabad for Jeddah on June 24.

According to the chairman of the TSHC, Saleem, three Khadim-ul-Hujjaj (Hajj volunteers) have been deployed by the Hajj Committee with pilgrims and have been instructed to offer assistance and direction as required.

“On Monday, the first batch of Hajj pilgrims from Telangana left for the pilgrimage from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. A special flight of Saudi Airlines left for Jeddah at 5:55 am carrying 373 pilgrims,” a Telangana State Hajj Committee official reported.

The pilgrims’ buses were flagged off by state home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and state Hajj committee chairman Mohammed Saleem

With enthusiasm, the pilgrims chanted ‘Talbiyah’, a prayer invoked during Hajj. As scores of relatives, friends, and well-wishers bid the pilgrims farewell at Haj House, emotional scenes unfolded.

It is the first time in two years that pilgrims from India are performing Hajj. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Saudi Arabia did not allow pilgrims from other countries in 2020 and 2021.

As in previous years, the Hajj House was used as a point of embarkation for pilgrims. Food and accommodation were arranged for the pilgrims who had arrived from various districts of Telangana by the Hajj Committee.

Under one roof, a variety of departments provided services such as customs clearance, baggage inspection, and currency exchange.

Among the five pillars of Islam, Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the holiest city in Islam. Every Muslim who is financially and physically capable of undertaking the journey must perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime.
