Following completion of works assigned to the Irrigation Wing, the GHMC has now taken up plantation at Malka Cheruvu Lake at Upperpally in Rajendranagar under Lake Beautification Project.
Earlier it was reported in a section of media that nevertheless the Irrigation Wing has completed their part of the works, the lake beautification project is waiting to see other shoe to drop from GHMC side that was tasked with the plantation work.
However, the GHMC Park Wing has taken up plantation of different species to promote colourful vegetation around the semi dried Lake. “We have planted nearly 5,000 saplings of 20 different species at Malka Cheruvu Lake. this include species of different size like Ravi, Marri, Juvvi, Medi, Mahogany, Kadamba, Millingtonia, Pongamia, Tecoma Gaudichaudi, Neem, Jatropha, Ixora, Nandivardhanam, Eranthemum, Allamanda, Sampangi, Ponna, Tella Maddi and Bauhinia,” informed Venkat Ramna, A supervisor at Premavathipet Nursery, Rajendranagar.

“We have also carried out plantations from Aram Ghar to Shamshabad Highway,” he said adding that, “Soon the seeding will be extended till Shamshabad Airport. “Together we plant over 40,000 saplings on this stretch to ensure a pleasing ambiance on the maiden and on the countryside of the road.”
“Around 30,000 mini size species like Tecoma Gaudichaudi, Bougainvillea and Selenium will be planted besides big trees such as Mahogany, Ravi, Tabebuia Rosea, Kadamba, Bohemia, Neem, China Badam, Putranjiva, Bignonia, Neredu and Dendrobium,” he explained.
