Malreddy urges CEO to order vote recount in Ibrahimpatnam

Hyderabad: Congress rebel leader and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate from Ibrahimpatnam Assembly constituency Malreddy Ranga Reddy, who lost at the hands of his TRS rival Manchireddy Kishan Reddy by with a slender majority of 376 votes, on Friday approached the Election Commission and urged it to hold recounting of votes in his constituency.

Malreddy Ranga Reddy submitted a representation to Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar at the Secretariat. In his representation, Malreddy alleged that widespread irregularities took place in the counting of votes in his constituency. He also alleged that the EC officials had followed the instructions from TRS leader KT Rama Rao while counting of the votes. He specifically stated that the son of TRS candidate entered the vote counting center with a mobile phone in his hand in clear violation of the Election Commission rules.

He told the CEO that he would approach the court if he did not get justice at the EC. He also warned that all the candidates, who faced injustice at the hands of the EC, would fight against it in the days to come. The counting of votes in Ibrahimpatnam witnessed some anxious and exciting moments till the end. While the ruling TRS candidate secured a total of 72,581 votes, Malreddy Ranga Reddy secured 72,205 votes, 376 votes less than the victorious candidate.
