Man turns Modi’s gamcha into masks- a hit with the crowd!

Barabanki: While the world is suffering heavily in terms of finances, thanks to coronavirus, a man from Uttar Pradesh has found a source of income through his new business.
Obaid Ansari of Shahvour village, part of the Barabanki district in UP has started a business manufacturing the red and white ‘gamcha’ adorned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech announcing the lockdown 2.0.
The PM had worn the ‘gamcha’ as a mask and suggested everyone that it can be used for this purpose. His gamcha was red and white coloured with a black and white border. He had shown how people can use it as a mask during his address to the nation through live video.
“I saw the Prime Minister wearing the ‘gamcha’ that seemed very attractive and I copied the design. I started making ‘gamcha’ with the same design and did not expect the tremendous response that I got. I now have people from other states asking me for these gamchas’ but I cannot ensure supplies due to the lockdown. The ‘gamcha’ has been a gamechanger for me,” said Ansari.
He took up the suggestion of the PM and turned it into a business when people started liking the gamcha mask. His masks gained popularity in no time and now he has people ordering for his product from all over the country yet, he isn’t able to cater to their requests as he cannot ensure the delivering and supply of the masks. Nevertheless, he says that the gamcha has become a game-changer for him, helping him in these times of crisis.
Coincidently, Barabanki is noted for handloom products in the list for ‘One district, one Product’ (ODOP) of the Yogi Adityanath government.
The coronavirus pandemic has robbed the jobs of millions of people worldwide, forcing them to ask monetary relief from others. Small and big scale industries, firms and business are suffering a lot and so is the ever reducing economy of every country, especially India. With the pandemic showing no signs of flattening the curve, measures are under-way by every country to revive its economy and help the people hit by the virus induced lockdown.
