MBT writes to IAS Officer about new building at Govt Degree College, Chanchalguda

Amjed Ullah Khan, the spokesman of the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), complained about the negligence of the contractor who is constructing a new building at the Government Degree College, Chanchalguda, in a letter sent to IAS Officer Navin Mittal, the commission for Collegiate Education and Technical Education on Tuesday.

The State Education Welfare and Infrastructure Development Corporation is building a new building for Government Degree College in Chanchalguda, and the contractor has dug open a huge plot, endangering the students’ lives.

In his letter requesting Mittal to visit the college and instruct the contractor to take precautionary measures, he wrote that the campus has five schools with 3600 students, an intermediate college with 1500 students, and a degree college with 1200 students.

As the ground is also used for Milad un Nabi meetings, he urged Mittal to ask the contractor to close the open dug area and remove the dismantled material immediately.

Govt sanctions Rs 5 crore for college facelift

After being neglected for several years, the State government has finally decided to revamp the decades-old Chanchalguda Government Junior college campus.

The government has sanctioned five crores for the development works, which also include the construction of a separate building for the degree college. Despite being one of the oldest campuses in the city, the campus was grossly neglected by the government.

A lack of maintenance has left the campus in poor condition, according to students and staff.

As the staff lamented, development work would finally begin after years of waiting. The AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, along with Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala and Education department officials, laid the foundation stone for the Chanchalguda Government Degree College block-1 at the campus recently and assured that the building would be completed by the end of the year.
