Hyderabad: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has been extending financial support to the State Government for various infrastructure projects. It has now sanctioned an amount of Rs. 205.56 crore under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF XXIV) as loan assistance for development of 112 roads covering all the 13 districts of the state. The projects involve upgrading existing Kaccha roads to all weather BT roads in rural areas to improve connectivity which will significantly contribute towards realising social benefits like improved access to markets, health institutions, schools, etc., said K Suresh Kumar, Chief General Manager, NABARD in a statement.
The sanctioned road projects will upgrade 453.78 Km of Kaccha roads to BT roads. The projects will, on completion, connect 298 villages benefitting over 20 lakh people. These roads will also provide the farmers with improved connectivity to 27 market yards. With the above sanction, the total support for developing rural roads in Andhra Pradesh under RIDF has touched Rs. 479.96 crore for 220 roads during this Financial year. (NSS)
