National issues to be discussed between KCR and retired IAS officers

Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao said on Wednesday that a meeting of retired IAS officers will soon be held in Hyderabad to get their input on various topics plaguing the nation.

He said all efforts would be made to study the situation carefully and develop an alternative agenda. They would also examine structural changes and reforms that need to be implemented.

As KCR spoke in the TRS plenary, he referenced the failures of the BJP government at the centre. In addition, he questioned why China was advancing so rapidly.

He said, “If we have better policies than China, we should be ahead of the communist country. What we need now is disruptive politics to facilitate rapid growth and development.”

KCR linked Singapore to his point of view by stating that Singapore didn’t have natural resources, but has a successful economy. He said that Lakshadweep has some of the cleanest beaches in the world, but people aren’t aware of them.

KCR responded to PM’s suggestion that states reduce fuel VAT. Modi was supposed to be talking about the COVID situation, but instead, he started talking about taxes. Is the Prime Minister supposed to be discussing this (the state reducing VAT)? It is the BJP government that has raised taxes and cesses on petroleum products, while Telangana has rounded off the decimal once.”

KCR called it a clever strategy by the BJP to undermine the States, saying it was unnecessary and undesirable.

To enter the national political arena, the TRS chief said the party has 60 lakh members, and if each member donated just Rs 1,000, the party would have Rs 6,000 crore. Furthermore, there are members of the party who can give lakhs and even crores, he said.
