Next four days to bring heavy rains and thunderstorms to Telangana

On Friday, moderate to heavy rainfall slashed several parts of Hyderabad, causing disruptions to normal life.

There seems to be no respite from the rains anytime soon as Telangana is forecast to experience heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning for the next four days.

In several parts of the state, a yellow alert has been issued indicating thunderstorms and lightning.

Among the districts under yellow alert on Saturday are Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad, Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Jagtiyal, Nizamabad, Mancherial, Kamareddy, Rajanna Siricilla, Medak, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Wanaparthi.

Precautions to be taken during thunderstorms and lightning

  1. It is not advisable to seek shelter under trees. During thunderstorms, stay away from ponds, lakes, and other water bodies.
  2. Make sure you are indoors – inside your car, bus, or train; seek a safe pukka shelter. Once you hear the last thunderclap, do not go outside for thirty minutes.
  3. In the absence of shelter, enter the lightning crouch- a ball-like position with hands over your ears so that you are low and minimize contact with the ground.
  4. Keep a safe distance from downed power lines and do not use any electrical or electronic appliances.

For July 31, a yellow alert has been issued to the districts including Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Nizamabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Medak, Siddipet, Mulugu, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Yadari Bhuwanagiri, Jangaon, Suryapet, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Nagarkurnool, Nirmal, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nalgonda, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthi, Narayanpet, Nizamabad, and Mahabubnagar districts.

For August 1, a yellow alert has been issued to the districts including, Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar,

Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthi, Siddipet, Narayanpet, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Jangaon, Hanmakonda, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Peddapalli districts

For August 2, heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban), Janagaon, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts.

For August 3, heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Nirmal Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthi, Narayanpet, Nagarkurnool, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.
