“No ‘Babri’ hospital led by Dr. Kafeel Khan”- UP Sunni Waqf Board slams rumours

Busting the news getting viral on the internet regarding the establishment of “Babri hospital” headed by Dr. Kafeel Khan, the UP Sunni Waqf Board issued a notice on August 7th.

The notice rubbished the construction of such a hospital under the directorship of anyone not named officially by the Trust.

According to the board, the ‘Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation’ trust proposed a mosque, two centers to highlight the Indo-Islamic culture and study, a charitable hospital, and a public library to be built on the land.

It further said that all speculations pertaining to the Trust and the land allotted to Muslims going around social media platforms which refer to the making of Babri hospital led by Dr. Kafeel Khan is “mischievous” and fake.

Signed by the CEO of the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board (UPSCWB), S. M. Shoeb, the notice stated that except Athar Hussain, no other person is authorized to speak on behalf of the Trust, which consists of 15 members.

Azhar Hussain is the spokesperson for the ‘Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation’ and has been appointed by the Trust.

Supreme Court had ordered for the allotment of five acres of land in the Dhannipuri village area of Ayodhya District, 20 km away from the Ram Temple which recently had its groundbreaking ceremony.

An office for the Trust is getting set up and will be operating within 10-12 days. It has also applied for a PAN in the name of IICF and is waiting for the same post which all the 15 members will hold a virtual conference to speak about the opening of a bank account.

The spokesperson of the trust said, “We had met last month online. As of now, we have identified the office space and the renovation work is going on there. It will take 10-12 days for the work to complete. After which our office will be functional.”
