North Korea Warns European Union of Consequences After Human Rights Violations Sanctions

In the latest development, North Korea has condemned the European Union for including the nations in the targets for the “human rights sanctions”. This comes after the EU aims to counter global human rights violations.

North Korean Foreign Ministry Responds To EU’s Alleged Targets

As per the reports from the Korean Central News Agency, the North Korea Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that the action taken by the European Union of announcing the targets for the human rights sanctions is “farce”.

A top EU body recently slammed North Korea for allegedly torturing and killing their own people in the country. This was the first time when the EU has outrightly named the North Korean officials against the human-rights violation crimes.

Apart from North Korea, the EU also included officials from China, South Sudan, Russia, Libya and Eritrea in the human rights sanctions list.

The spokesperson said that North Korean is strongly against and condemns the EU for naming their country in the human rights sanctions list. He said that this move contributes to ‘stereo-typed hostility” towards North Korea and is a “political provocation”. He further accused the EU of interfering with their sovereignty and internal matters.

He warned that if the EU continues to do so and smears the anti-North Korean human rights campaign, it will face “unimaginable and miserable consequences”.

EU Slams North Korean With Sanctions

Recently, a top EU body slammed North Korea with human rights related sanctions. They accused the country for conducting forced labor.  As per the new sanctions, the North Korea’s Central Public Prosecutors Office will not receive any EU financial assistance.

At the same time, the EU has also accused Ri Yong Gil Minister of Social Security and Jong Kyong Thaek Minister of State Security for the “torture and other cruel, inhuman and degratement treatment towards police forces.
