Onco Imaging Workshop in Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital

Hyderabad: Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute has organised an Onco Imaging Workshop today in its premises. Experts from various parts of the nation have acted as faculty members in the workshop. The two day workshop was organized in association with Telangana Chapter of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association.

The theme of the workshop was decided considering the growing importance of Radiological Imaging in cancer treatment day by day. The accurate diagnosis will definitely improves the chances of detecting the disease early thus saving the life.

The two day workshop was inaugurated formally today morning in an inaugural function attended by Dr RV Prabhakar Rao, CEO, BIACH&RI, DR TS Rao, Medical Director, BIACH&RI; Dr Prabhakar Reddy, Past President, TSIRIA; Dr Veeriah Chowdhary, President, TSIRIA along with others. The workshop was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr RV Prabhakar Rao, CEO, BIACHR& has opined that importance of Radio Imaging is growing in cancer treatment day by day. They become very important in early detection and accurate diagnosis thus allowing patients to live normal lives after removal of cancer infested organs from their body, he added.

Further elaborating on the subject, Dr TS Rao, Medical Director, BIACH&RI has said that the recent developments/advancements in radio imaging giving ample space in understanding the disease thus allowing an oncologist to provide right treatment. He opined that work shops like this will enable experts to learn the newer techniques and also exchange views to improve it further.

Earlier while welcoming the guests, Dr Veeriah Chowdhary has asked the participants to utilize the workshop to learn newer techniques thus allowing them to provide quality diagnostic services to the

needy. While explaining the role played by radiology experts in pin pointing the diseases, the timely

accurate results will be a definite help in providing right guidance while deciding the course of treatment.

During the workshop the experts has presented various case studies in using radio imaging techniques to detect variety of tumors accurately. Further the workshop also had a session on conducting image guidedbiopsy. It also had special session in identifying the breast tumors using digital mammography.

Along with the dignitaries mentioned above, the workshop was attended by more than 100 doctors, medical students from various hospitals along with doctors from BIACH&RI. (NSS)
