One from West Bengal held for cheating bank customers

 HyderabadCyber Crime Police today apprehended one Sheonath Prasad Kahar of North 24-Parganas district, West Bengal, for assisting inter-State fraudsters indulging in obtaining debit/credit card details, including OTP numbers from bank customers posing themselves as bank officials by providing them their address details and bank accounts on commission basis. Police seized mobile phone used in the commission of offence from him.

Acting on a complaint that an identified person, posing as Bank Official, obtained two SBI debit card details and OTP numbers fraudulently and made online transactions for a total Rs 93,994, the police registered a case and launched investigation. Obtaining necessary details from the banks and e-commerce wallets and clues, a police team proceeded to West Bengal and nabbed the accused. The accused was brought to Hyderabad on transit warrant and remanded to judicial custody. (NSS)
