Outrage continue for cash relief while officials busy preparing electoral rolls

Soon after the reports emerged in the section of media yesterday that the government has decided to extend the period of distribution of cash relief among the flood-affected people, the anxious people flock to concerned government offices as early as morning today to apply for the same.

However, the people returned empty-handed after waiting for several hours before the concerned offices where they had reached early morning. Several offices in the old city were not open today till afternoon presumably fearing the flock of people may create a ruckus demanding cash relief.

At some places, the tizzy protesters mainly womenfolk continue to hold demonstrations clamoring clarity over the relief distribution while claiming that officials have distributed the cash relief among bogus beneficiaries leaving them in the lurch.

At Rajendranagar, people in myriad start gathering at offices of GHMC, MRO, and RDO since morning to register their names as beneficiaries but to their surprise, no offices were open till noon. Later several people thronged to RDO office Attapur where they made a sit-in demanding the urgent release of cash relief.

Similar incidents were reported from Charminar, Bahadurpura, Karvan, Chandrayangutta, Bandlaguda, Purnapul, Yakutpura, Hussaini Alam, and some other areas of the old city.

Earlier on Sunday, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar held a review meeting with Principal Secretary Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar and Commissioner GHMC Lokesh Kumar and directed to reschedule the distribution of cash relief in areas recently affected by the deluge.

However, on the same day, the orders were issued for the preparation of electoral rolls for ensuring GHMC elections making the officials completely occupied with the work while the affected people were seen today protesting outside the offices.
