Over 15,000 police officers to be deployed during Hyderabad’s Ganesh celebrations

The Telangana police will seek additional backing from neighboring states as a precautionary measure for the first time in two years. There will be around 15,000 police officers on bandobast duty.

According to reports, following the arrest of Goshamahal legislator T. Raja Singh, apparently, intelligence officials have prepared a report on possible disturbances caused by some anti-social elements and submitted it to the government as a result of Raja Singh and some vested interests rousing religious issues. All district SPs, including unit officers, have reviewed the documents

Identify sensitive places within their limits and take measures to prevent untoward incidents by meeting with inspectors, station house officers, deputy superintendents of police, and additional SPs.

A police source said that at least 300 hypersensitive and 500 sensitive areas had been identified in Hyderabad.

Besides CCTV monitoring of Ganesh pandals, which would be geotagged, bomb disposal teams, sniffer dogs, and mobile patrol teams would be on duty 24 hours a day, every day.

Due to the tense situation in the city, district forces will be sent there as well as other communally sensitive places like Bhainsa. Depending on the situation, we may bring forces from neighboring states.” said sources.

As part of police reforms, a special team has been set up to prevent abusive and hateful content on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

In a meeting held a few days ago, the Cyberabad police commissioner, M Stephen Ravindra, met with police officers, representatives from various government agencies, and representatives from Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsava Samiti to discuss the planning, management, and security of the upcoming Ganesh festival.

As far as security is concerned, the police are fully prepared. “All departments should work together to avoid problems related to the arrangements, management, and security for the Ganesh festival,” he said during the review.
