Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), delivered a bold challenge to Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Indian National Congress (INC), during a public meeting in his parliamentary district of Hyderabad.
Asaduiddin Owaisi advised Rahul Gandhi to run for Lok Sabha from Hyderabad, a direct challenge to Rahul’s existing seat of Wayanad. Asaduddin Owaisi challenge came with a stinging condemnation of the INC.
Asaduddin Owaisi reminded the audience of the contentious destruction of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya under the Congress rule. This challenge adds to the political turmoil in Telangana, where the AIMIM and the INC are both fighting for power in the next state assembly elections.

Previously, Rahul Gandhi accused Telangana’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and AIMIM of establishing a unified front in politics. He claimed that in Telangana, the INC was up against a coalition of the BRS, BJP, and AIMIM.
Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi were not under investigation by the CBI or the ED, implying a special connection with the Prime Minister. These sentiments reflect Telangana’s growing political intensity as parties prepare for the 2019 assembly elections.
