Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM president and Lok Sabha MP, has harshly denounced the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) request for a procession in Haryana’s Nuh district. According to Owaisi, Muslims are subjected to targeted violence and collective punishment through demolitions.
In response to the July 31 violence between two factions in Haryana’s Nuh district, which resulted in the deaths of six persons including two Home Guards, Owaisi accused the Haryana government of ineptitude in putting an end to the violence. He further said that the Haryana government is practically run by the VHP.
Owaisi remarked that there is no significant difference between the VHP and the BJP, and that their arrests are mainly for show. He chastised the administration for failing to prosecute individuals guilty for the violence.
Concerning the VHP’s insistence on hosting the Brij Mandal Shobha Yatra in Nuh, Owaisi questioned the government’s stance on surrendering to threats from such organizations, implying that the government was complicit in the violence.
In response to a recent incident in Muzaffarnagar in which a schoolteacher encouraged students to slap their Muslim classmates, Owaisi denounced the accused teacher’s actions and questioned why she had not been arrested. He questioned the teacher’s lack of contrition and raised concern about the circumstances if the victim had not been Muslim.
