Peace and Cleanliness Paramount for Hyderabad Police This Bakrid: CP CV Anand

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand has emphasized that peace, public hygiene, and lawful celebration will be the top priorities during this year’s Bakrid festivities. In a firm statement, Anand made it clear that the police would not tolerate any form of vigilantism.

Speaking at an inter-departmental coordination meeting , Anand called for restraint and cooperation. “The spirit of Bakrid lies in sacrifice and harmony. With proper coordination, we will ensure a smooth celebration for all,” he said.

Each department has been given specific responsibilities to ensure smooth festival operations. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been directed to provide garbage bags to all households and deploy rapid-response sanitation teams. Additional staff will be positioned near mosques and designated slaughter areas, and mobile toilets will be arranged to meet public needs. Street dog-catching squads will also be active ahead of the festival.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) will monitor water supply and sewage flow, while the Engineering and Electricity departments were told to ensure uninterrupted services. The Road Transport Authority (RTA) will have drivers and cranes on standby to handle any emergencies. Fire services have been put on alert as well.

To oversee the health and welfare of animals, veterinary doctors will be stationed round-the-clock at checkpoints, and proper carcass disposal will be ensured by the concerned departments. Only government-authorized officials will be deployed at checkposts, Anand clarified, warning that no private individual has the right to stop vehicles.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Majid Hussain, Kausar Mohiuddin, Zulfiqar Ali, Jaffer Hussain Meraj, and MLC Mirza Rahmat Ali Baig, along with Maulanas and representatives from the Qureshi community. They pledged full cooperation to keep the city clean and urged the public to dispose of animal waste only in designated areas.

Authorities assured that all entry points would be managed solely by GHMC, Animal Husbandry staff, and police personnel. The joint effort is aimed at ensuring a peaceful, hygienic, and respectful celebration of Bakrid across Hyderabad.
