Phase II of Sheep Distribution Scheme to be kickstarted in Telangana on June 5

The second phase of the Sheep Distribution Scheme will begin in Telangana on June 5, as part of the 21-day Telangana State Formation Day celebrations, which begins on June 2. While Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav will formally launch the program in Nalgonda district, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs will distribute sheep units throughout the State.

During the first phase, 3.93 lakh sheep units, each consisting of 20 sheep and one ram, were distributed to eligible members of the Golla Kuruma community. In the second phase, approximately 3.5 lakh families will benefit.

Srinivas Yadav, who reviewed the sheep distribution arrangements on Tuesday, directed Animal Husbandry department officials to notify the elected representatives in advance and make arrangements accordingly to ensure their participation.

Special Chief Secretary for Animal Husbandry Aadhar Sinha and director Ramchander have been directed to issue clear instructions to District Collectors and department officials in this regard.

“The beneficiaries should be taken along with the officials to purchase the sheep units. All measures should be taken to ensure transparency,” the Minister said.

On the occasion of Mrigasira Karthe, which begins on June 9, Srinivas Yadav requested that officials expedite the preparations for the fish food festival, which will take place in all district headquarters on June 8, 9, and 10. In each district, approximately 20 to 30 stalls will be set up where various types of fish dishes such as fish fry, biryani, and fish soup, prepared by women fishermen who have received training from the Fisheries department, will be served.

He also asked them to take all necessary steps to ensure a steady supply of fishlings for the Mrigasira Karthe day distribution of fish prasad at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally.

Telangana State Sheep and Goat Development Co-operative Federation chairman D Balaraju Yadav, Special Chief Secretary Aadhar Sinha and director Ramchander were present.
