PM, CM failed to help migrant workers : Uttam Kumar Reddy

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy today came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister of the state KCR for their failure to help the migrant workers. He alleged that the two leaders had grossly failed in extending help to the migrant workers of the country and the state. He alleged that neither the central government nor the state government showed mercy towards the workers. He asked the two leaders if they thought of ignoring the workers even after their deaths. He said that both Modi and KCR had clearly displayed a sense of carelessness towards the migrant workers.

Speaking to media persons, he said that their party leader Sonia Gandhi had termed the migration of the workers as those of the migration of the people of the country after independence. He alleged that the two governments had failed to distribute the food grains despite the fact that the country had 13 crores of migrant workers. He said that the migrant worker’s problem would not have become so serious had the two governments distributed cash and food grains to them. He said that there was no concrete plan in case of the crores of migrant workers. He mocked that CM KCR always spoke in the manner as if he was the expert of all subjects.

He said that there were so many disparities in the figures of migrant workers quoted by CM and his cabinet colleague Talasani Srinivas Yadav. He said that while CM KCR said that the state had 3.5 lakh migrant workers, Talasani said that the state had 7 lakh migrant workers. He praised party MLA Jagga Reddy and said that the Congress leader had done an excellent job in sending the migrant workers to their native places.  Reddy alleged that the ruling party leaders were bulldozing the freedom of the press and added that the CM was threatening media in the state.

He alleged that the ruling Party leaders were harassing the journalists directly while referring to the house demolition Incident of a journalist from Narayankhed. Reddy condemned the attack on the journalists of the state. The TPCC president unveiled a web portal meant for the migrant workers on the occasion.

Later in the day, the TPCC President distributed ‘Ramzan Tohfa’ to poor minority families in Miryalaguda constituency. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Congress party always stood for welfare and security of minority communities and for communal harmony. He appealed to all Congress cadres in Telangana to distribute Ramzan Thofa among poor Muslim families as Iftar dinners could not be organised due to lockdown.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also flagged off a bus for Oriya brick kiln migrant workers from Nalgonda to Orissa state. The bus charges and enroute food cost was met by Congress party.

In Nalgonda today, he also visited a blood donation camp organised by Congress party on the occasion of 55th birthday of MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
