PM Modi directed ministries to fill 10 lakh positions after receiving KTR’s letter

A week after TRS chief KT Rama Rao wrote an open letter to PM Modi about Central government vacancies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked for 10 lakh people to be hired on a “mission” mode for the next one and a half years.

According to a tweet from the PMO on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reviewed the human resource situation within all departments and ministries and instructed that the Government recruit 10 lakh people on a “mission mode” in the next one and half years. Railways, the civil wing of the military, and the postal department reportedly had the highest number of vacancies, while other departments reportedly had a shortage of personnel.

Among the main issues, KTR highlighted in his open letter to Modi dated June 9 was the failure of the Center to address the unemployment problem in the country. In his letter to the Prime Minister, KTR had asked that at least 16 lakh vacant positions be filled at various government departments and affiliated areas.

TRS leader Srinivasan stated that the TRS was planning to organize protests in different parts of Tamil Nadu to force the centre to conduct recruitment drives. In addition to mentioning the recruitment of 1.13.2 lakh people by the Telangana government, the Minister also expressed concern about the decision to recruit more than 80,000 employees for the Telangana government departments.

In an interesting twist, Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan chose to remain silent on the Telangana government’s initiative to fill up vacancies but immediately retweeted the PMO’s tweet.
