PM Modi to Go On a 3-city Visit to Review COVID-19 Vaccine Development, PM Will Also Visit Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Prime Minister of the nation Narendra Modi will undertake the personal review of the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by various pharmaceutical companies of the nation.

He will visit the labs of the three pharmaceutical companies in different cities of the nation on Saturday. This was uncovered by the Prime Minister’s Office in a tweet.

The PMO tweeted: “Tomorrow, PM Narendra Modi will embark on a 3 city visit to personally review the vaccine development and manufacturing process. He will visit the Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad, Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad and Serum Institute of India in Pune.”

The PM will initially visit the lab of Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad and Serum Institute of India in Pune and Bharat Biotech Park in Hyderabad. The PMO additionally said that the battle against the dangerous virus by India had arrived at a crucial stage and added that the visit of various labs involved in the development and manufacturing of the vaccine by the PM would help in procuring more information about the vaccine.

It additionally said that the visit would help the central government in identifying  the difficulties to provide the vaccine to the individuals of the nation and set up an action plan to face the difficulties

Zydus Cadila’s plant is located at Changodar industrial area close to Ahmedabad city.

The drugmaker had before declared that the phase I clinical trial of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, ZyCoV-D, has been finished and it has started phase II clinical trials from August.

Modi will then continue to Pune, where he will visit the Serum Institute of India, which has partnered with global pharma goliath AstraZeneca and the Oxford University for the vaccine, a senior official stated.

The PM will then fly to Hyderabad where he is planned to visit vaccine maker Bharat Biotech’s facility, an official stated.

Modi will land at Hakimpet Air Force station and go to Bharat Biotech’s facility at Genome Valley about 50 km from Hyderabad. Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin is going through phase 3 trials.

The PM will fly back to Delhi at night after his hour-long visit to the facility, the official added.
