Police and civil servants enjoying persecution of Muslims:Prof. Apporvanand

Expressing concern over the growing sadistic pleasure in bureaucratic domain against Muslims especially given the recent incidents of using bulldozers at Jahangirpuri area in Delhi, Prof. Apoorvanand, Professor Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi said, “These days, police and civil servants are enjoying persecution of Muslims which is a very dangerous trend.”

While taking part in a debate themed “Bureaucrats are enjoying persecuting Muslims, he said “I don’t think that there is any central ambition behind the ‘bulldozer episodes’ but by doing this it has been proved that nothing is impossible now in this country. Now, bulldozers can be used anywhere simply setting aside the instructions of any of the higher judiciary institutions.”

“Though the higher courts have been appraised about all the things going on these days – the Muslims are already aware of the situation, but the time has come to pounder the situation by us all in unison,” he explained.

“As far as the opposition parties are concerned, Prof. Apoorvanand said, “They should not confine themselves to only tweets simply to express their displeasure over the incidents. They should hit the roads just like CPI (M) leaders Brinda Karat and Hannan Mollah did by joining the distressed people there at Jahangirpuri. They won’t get votes from the area, they know, but they stood with the victims as this is their responsibility as leaders. They know they have to be with people at this hard time confronting the bulldozers. This is called actual politics.”

“Instead, the opposition is advising when and against whom the bulldozers should be used these days sitting complacently in their homes, he said adding that “They should avoid speaking the language of bulldozers and should convey the message that these machines are not at all a part of our tradition, we completely reject it.”

“What is more pathetic is the role of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which is now widely perceived as the best alternative to mainstream parties in the country. Many top leaders patted the party’s back claiming that AAP has gained a significant position in recently held elections. But what the party did at Jahangirpuri is very upsetting,” the professor pointed out.

“The Aam Aadmi Party accused the BJP of providing safe haven to Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslims across the country to stoke communal violence. This is a kind of a cheap trick played by the AAP. The party knows that words like Rohingya and Bangladeshi are generally denoted to Muslims by the BJP. The saffron party, whenever it wants to target the Muslims, uses the words like Rohingas, Bangladeshi, Outsiders and Termites to drag the point. If AAP is using the same terminologies, then it shows that it is playing an extremely cheap trick which is not even hidden anymore.”
