Police arrested accused of elderly tribal woman murder

Amaravati: Police have arrested an accused who has involved in the murder of an elderly tribal woman. This heart-rending and sensational incident occurred in the Sivapuram Tanda in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on Monday. The police have finally managed to arrest culprit on Tuesday who crushed to death an elderly tribal woman for not clearing her debts.

While Relatives and family members of the deceased agitated at Narasarao pet government hospital on Tuesday morning demanded to arrest the culprit. Responded promptly the police announced that the accused Srinivas Reddy had been taken into custody.

Going to the details  Tribal woman Ramawath Mantru Nayak and Mantru Bai (55), a couple from Nakarikallu suburb Sivapuram, have been cultivating forest lands. The couple had taken a loan of Rs 3.80 lakh two years ago by mortgaging their farm from Bonamukkala Srinivas Reddy of Narsingapadu for farming and family needs. The accused has been harassing the couple for some time to pay off his debt, with the interest. He had earlier harassed and fight the couple on this issue and threatening to seize the mortgaged land if the arrears would not clear on the deadline which he has given. Meanwhile, accused Srinivas Reddy came to the village with a tractor after learning that couple Nayak and Mantru Bai were preparing to go to the farm. He abused the couple on the way and demanded to pay his money.

The couple begged him and insisted that they will pay the amount in installments after the cultivation however he insisted to pay the total amount. As the altercation escalated, the enraged Srinivas Reddy trampled Mantru Bai with a tractor. Srinivas fled the crime scene after he noticed that the woman has died on the spot. Today police have announced that it has arrested the culprit. He will be produced in the court.
