Police Resort to Lathi Charge on Crowds Gathered Outside Gymkhana; 20 Injured

Police resorted to lathi charge on cricket fans gathered at Gymkhana for India-Australia match tickets on Thursday.

As per the news reports, twenty were injured during the offensive by the police officers, and seven were taken to Yashoda Hospital for treatment. The police have launched an investigation into what caused such chaos at the ticket counters.

Yesterday, chaos ensued outside the Gymkhana as hundreds of fans swarmed the venue in search of tickets.

Fans in Hyderabad and Secunderabad are looking forward to the match between India and Australia because they haven’t seen top-class cricket in three years.

In Hyderabad, there is a line to buy tickets for the India-Australia cricket match. Fans are seen forming queues at Gymkhana as early as 6 am in the morning.

Cops were forced to lathi charge fans today in order to control the chaos at the scene. Meanwhile, according to the Paytm website, the tickets will be available soon.

Fans who had been waiting for long hours were irritated by the delay in the start of the sale. Meanwhile, a few fans who obtained tickets expressed disappointment that they were unable to obtain the desired tickets. A few enraged fans accused the body of corruption for not selling all tickets.

Although only a limited number of tickets were available, thousands of fans gathered, causing tension among security personnel. The heavy rain that hit the city exacerbated the situation for the fans.

According to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president Mohammed Azharuddin, the tickets will be sold via the Paytm app and the Paytm insider app. Ticket prices range between Rs 10,000 and Rs 300.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal is the city’s main cricket stadium, with a capacity of nearly 55,000 people. It is renowned for its cutting-edge infrastructure and has hosted countless international and Indian Premier League games over the years (IPL).
