Police Safeguard Tomato Cargo After Lorry Overturns in Kumram Bheem Asifabad

A vegetable-laden lorry carrying tomatoes was involved in an accident and overturned on Sunday evening in Bendara village, Wankidi mandal, Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. The impact of the accident spread the tomatoes packed in crates over the road, attracting the attention of locals passing by.

The lorry’s driver, who suffered minor injuries in the accident, swiftly requested assistance from the local police. Two officers were dispatched to the scene in response to the call to prevent any potential theft of the tomatoes by the assembled bystanders. The worth of the tomato shipment was estimated to be over Rs 15 lakh, and there was concern that some people could try to steal the scattered tomatoes.

The cops remained at the scene for five hours, keeping a close check on the tomatoes and discouraging any efforts to steal them. Their presence was effective, as only a few locals attempted to steal the tomatoes but were unsuccessful due to the alert policeman.

The lorry was traveling from Kollar, Karnataka, to New Delhi, and the tomatoes were destined for delivery. However, due to the accident, the cargo was strewn on the road, necessitating quick security measures.

This tragedy comes after another lorry delivering tomatoes overturned on July 15 in Mavala mandal center. In that example, four police officers stood guard for 12 hours to avoid theft while the tomatoes were being reloaded into the vehicle. The tomatoes in that cargo were estimated to be worth roughly Rs 22 lakh.

Both cases show the potential dangers that goods transporters confront, as well as the precautions taken by the police to protect the consignments and avoid theft during such mishaps. The timely response and presence of law enforcement personnel in these situations aided in the protection of the valuable cargo as well as the maintenance of law and order on the scene.
