Hyderabad: Probably annoyed at the congress jibe and remarks against her of corruption coupled with election code, MP Kavitha today said that Telangana Jagruthi will desist from conducting Bathukamma Festival in Telangana State.
Since the election code of conduct is being enforced in the state, the Jagruthi abstaining from conducting the festivities across the state. Being the head of Jagruthi she was reacting on the court verdict stalling the distribution of sarees to mark Bathukamma festival to women folk. I am unhappy that the congress has been making allegations of corruption in the name of Bathukamma festival for four years she deplored.
We have taken any funds from the Government to conduct the floral festival of Bathukamma so far, Kavitha clarified. In future too, the Jagruthi will not take a single paise for holding Bathukamma festival she said. Kavitha appealed to women to celebrate the floral festival to reflect Telangana culture and tradition to the world over. (NSS)
