After a significant break from Telugu cinema, actress Pooja Hegde is all set to make a comeback with the bilingual film ‘Retro’, where she stars opposite Tamil superstar Suriya. While the movie is primarily a Tamil production, it is also being released in Telugu, with Sitara Entertainment acquiring the distribution rights. The film is scheduled to hit screens on May 1, and excitement is building among fans as Pooja gears up to reconnect with the Telugu audience.
Pooja Hegde was last seen in Telugu cinema in a special song appearance in the hit comedy film F3. Her last full-fledged role in a Telugu film was in Radhe Shyam, which did not perform well at the box office. Prior to that, she saw massive success with Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, which remains one of her most acclaimed performances. However, following a series of commercial setbacks, Pooja had taken a step back from signing new Telugu projects.
In the lead-up to Retro’s release, Pooja interacted with the media in Tamil Nadu. When asked whether she would be interested in portraying legendary actress Sridevi in a biopic, she responded enthusiastically. “I am ready to act in Sridevi’s biopic and also in any other biopic,” she said. She also recalled her performance in a remix of one of Sridevi’s iconic songs in the Telugu film Gaddalakonda Ganesh.
