Prepare plans to improve telecom services: CS

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary SK Joshi today directed the officials to ensure that a perfect plan is prepared to expand the best telecom services by addressing consumer related problems and issues for next 5 to 10 years in the wake of new technologies.

Addressing the first meeting of State-level telecom committee with officials of telecom companies and other departments at the Secretariat here, the Chief Secretary instructed the officials to submit a detailed plan of report on to expand the best telecom services to the people to get rid of their woes from time to time. “The telecom companies should focus on the consumer issues and address them in district and mandal levels. Work Agencies with officials should focus on addressing the issues pertaining to phone related problems by several Telecom companies”, he said.

The telecom officials should focus on avoiding disruptions of mobile phone services. Find out problematic areas in municipalities and towns and use the best technologies to ensure that the consumer issues are addressed instantly he said. Joshi asked to conduct awareness campaign and prepare a plan to allay fears among people on possible health problems due to high radiation at cell phone towers.

He also reviewed on improving network of cell phone towers in addition to 19,789, fibre connectivity and companies involved to provide better services. Stating that the officials have to discuss with GHMC, IT and private telecom wings on road cutting permissions for optical fibre works he asked the work agencies should focus on road restoration works. Joshi instructed the district level committees to receive complaints and address the problems related to telephone and mobile services. IT Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan informed that 50 per cent works of Optical Fibre laying in village panchayats through T- Fibre are complete and the rest will be completed by December 2019. (NSS)
