Pro-Palestine remarks, Suella Braverman sacked

The UK’s former Interior Minister, Suella Braverman, was dismissed by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Monday amid growing controversy over her remarks on pro-Palestine protest marches. British media attributed her sacking to a cabinet reshuffle.

Prime Minister Sunak has appointed James Cleverly as the new Home Secretary, who previously served as the Foreign Secretary since September last year.

Suella Braverman, of Indian origin, has a history of controversies and a strong stance against immigration. This marks her second dismissal from a UK cabinet, having resigned from former Prime Minister Liz Truss’s cabinet last year over another controversy.

In a recent article, Braverman criticized police actions during protests, alleging bias in handling pro-Palestinian groups versus right-wing extremists. The article also drew parallels between Gaza ceasefire demonstrations and Northern Ireland marches by unionists.
