Proper youth training is critical to India’s success, says KTR

According to Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, if youth aren’t trained properly, India’s demographic advantage could become a liability.

In Telangana, one can witness rapid industrial, IT, agricultural, and green cover growth. We believe in holistic growth, said KT Rama Rao on Friday at Heartfulness, UNESCO’s MGIEP and AICTE’s third international youth conference, ‘Rising with Kindness’.

India is considered the youngest nation in the world with an average age of 27 years. In the absence of youth training and empowerment, fundamental challenges would remain unresolved, he said.

Telangana was the first state in the country to provide safe and potable drinking water to 10 million households. This significant development has not been achieved by many States, he said, adding that Hyderabad is now the world’s vaccine capital.

It is not always necessary for innovation to be confined to the technology sector. In Telangana, pathbreaking reforms have been introduced such as the Panchayat Raj Act and Municipal Administration Act, where the local bodies are responsible for increasing green cover and ensuring sapling survival.

Kanhashanthi Vanam’s achievement of turning barren land into an oasis was amazing to him.

Over the last eight years, over 240 crore saplings have been planted by the Telangana Government under the Haritha Haram program. By ensuring an 85 percent survival rate of the saplings planted as part of Haritha Haram, the State increased green cover by 7.7 percent.

Gandhi, the father of the nation, always stressed the importance of kindness, and today the world needs more kindness than ever. The Telangana Government screened Gandhiji’s movie for free in over 550 theatres as part of 75 years of Independence to promote Gandhiji’s teachings of nonviolence, inclusiveness, and kindness. The film helped 2.2 million students learn about Gandhiji’s life and preachings, he said.

The youth should participate in the Haritha Haram program. Take care of each other, your families, and yourself, Rama Rao advised.

In response to a question about making Hyderabad the spiritual capital of the world, the Minister said the Telangana Government would act as an enabler and support organizations like Kanhashanthi Vanam.

Typically, governments are obsessed with winning the next election. Rama Rao believes it is important to ensure the values of compassion and kindness are instilled in bureaucrats, MLAS, and parliamentarians.

The conference was inaugurated by Guide of Heartfulness Kamlesh Patil, popularly known as Daaji, UNESCO MGIEP Director Anantha Duraiappah, and other chief guests.
