Pub Drug Bust: Law Should Also Apply to Rich Kids, Says Owaisi

Asaduddin Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Hyderabad MP  said that not a single arrest has been made besides the owner in the Banjara Hills pub drug bust case.

He took to Twitter and said: Rule of law is supreme Art 13 and it is very unfortunate that cocaine was found in this Rave party and all offspring’s of rich kids were released and not a single arrest apart from the owner of the place. Law should be applied equally to poor and rich.

He also tagged the Twitter handles of Hyderabad City Police and MA&UD minister KT Rama Rao.

In the tweet, Owaisi appeared to refer to the fact that police had detained Ghouseuddin Mohammed, a MIM corporator from Bholakpur division in Greater Hyderabad, for threatening and using objectionable language against the police. He has been placed in judicial custody for 2 weeks.

KT. Rama Rao, Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development of Telangana, shared the video of the incident on Wednesday and urged the Telangana DGP to take stern action against people who obstructed police officers on duty.

Additionally, he wrote that no such nonsense should be tolerated in Telangana irrespective of political affiliations.

In the wake of a drug bust on early Sunday, police had arrested the manager of the pub Mahadaram Anil Kumar and partner Abhishek Vuppala, and had declared Arjun Veeramachineni and Kiran Raju as absconding.

Several high profile customers, including relatives of actors and politicians reportedly present at the time of the raid were let go, although the police sought custody of the arrested accused for questioning.

The commissioner of police, CV Anand, suspended Shiva Chandra, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Banjara Hills, on Sunday for negligence over narcotics control in the city, after the raid.
