Question paper leak case: SIT issues notices to TSPSC officials

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the TSPSC paper leak case has issued notices to the Commission secretary Anita Ramchandran and a member, Linga Reddy, seeking them to appear before it in connection with the case. Officials plan to record their statements.

TSPSC Chairman B. Janardhan Reddy may also be called in for questioning, according to sources.

Apart from the question paper leak, the officials are likely to be questioned on the process of recruiting outsourcing employees.

According to SIT sources, the prime suspects, Praveen and Rajashekar Reddy, were planning to steal Group-1 main exam question paper and leak them to interested job aspirants for a large sum of money. They were in talks and negotiations with several people to sell it to them.

However, the fraud was discovered and they were apprehended. The SIT investigation also revealed that the suspects leaked and sold 15 question papers related to six posts. It was discovered that in addition to the question paper, they had copied the answers and planned to share them at least a week before the exam date for the benefit of those who paid money.

Meanwhile, rumours circulate that the central law enforcement agency, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), booking a case of money laundering and investigate. With the SIT investigation revealing large sums of money involved in the case and the possibility of Hawala transactions, the ED is expected to file a separate case under the PMLA Act and take up investigation.

However, SIT officials stated that the ED had not yet approached them for information on the paper leak case. They stated that if they were approached, they would share all relevant information obtained and gathered during the investigation.

The SIT has so far arrested 15 people, questioned about 100 people in the case, and seized Rs.4 lakh in cash from the suspects.
