Hyderabad: Raksha Bandhan, which symbolizes sublime brother-sister love was celebrated with the traditional enthusiasm in the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, today.
Joyous scenes were seen everywhere as sisters tied rakhis of various shapes and sizes on the wrists of their brothers, besides offering sweets, while brothers, in turn, presented gifts to their sisters as a token of their pure love to them.
Several women politicians and legislators tied rakhis to the ministers and other legislators.
Meanwhile, Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has greeted people on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Monday. In a message here, the Governor said, I wish all the people of Telangana a very happy Raksha Bandhan festival. It symbolizes the great Indian tradition of the eternal bond between brothers and sisters.
Ms Soundararajan said I wish that the thread of love will bind the hearts and lives of all brothers and sisters and make their immortal bond of togetherness stronger.
All the brothers shall shower their sisters with lots of affection, care, and protection on this auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan out of love. Let us all celebrate this Raksha Bandhan in the true spirit of Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao mission, She said.
The Rakhi that is tied on the wrist of brothers is a sublime symbol of Raksha (protection) for the sisters. Celebrate the festival in safe and secure environments by staying at home. The effect of the Covid19 was also witnessed during the Rakhi festival as the sales of Rakhis is slow down in the old city of Hyderabad. Traders say that the covid 19 effected on every sphere of life and it affects their business also this year.
