Ratan Tata requests netizens to refrain from Bharat Ratna campaigns

Taking Twitter as the platform, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata group of industries addressed the netizens to refrain from campaigns requesting Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian reward through the hashtag #BharatRatnaforRatanTata.

Earlier this week, Twitter flooded with the hashtag #BharatRatnaforRatanTata (Bharat Ratna for RatanTata) which was an attempt to request the Indian government to award the business tycoon with the highest civilian reward. The Tata group head made it clear that he was content with serving the nation for its growth and prosperity and does not request any award for the same.

Dr. Vivek Bhindra, the renowned businessman and motivational speaker was the initiator of this chain when he tweeted about the campaign requesting to confer the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna to the philanthropist using the hashtag #BharatRatnaForRatanTata which lost no time in reaching atop the trending list on Twitter.

Dr. Vivek wrote about the Tata Chairman Emeritus saying that it is Ratan Tata who believes that Indian development shall be carried to the next level only by the current generation of entrepreneurs.

Statistics depict that since being shared on Twitter, the tweet has been flooded with comments from people praising Ratan Tata. The post had also garnered approximately 45,000 likes and over more than 6,500 retweets.

The 83-year-old Ratan Tata stepped down from the top office of Tata Sons in 2012 had taken up the position of Chairman Emeritus and had moved over to work for the nation’s prosperity and development through his philanthropic works. Recently the octogenarian came into highlights when he visited one of his former employees who had been suffering from sickness and ailments. Ratan Tata went to visit him without inviting any paparazzi, common of many influencers nowadays and met the former colleague in his time of peril.

Ratan Tata has been always down to earth and has never been found working for his self-interest. He has since retirement been investing in the youth of India and the entrepreneurs which he believes will be boosting the Indian economy and taking it to new heights.

In the current scenario of the COVID pandemic, Ratan Tata had pledged to donate about ₹ 500 crores from the parent company of Tata Motors, Tata Trusts. Tata Sons eventually brought the total commitment to ₹ 1,500 crores by providing additional support of ₹ 1,000 crores.
