In a shocking and gruesome crime, a retired Army jawan, Gurumurthy, allegedly murdered his wife, Puttavenkata Madhavi (35), on January 15 and attempted to cover up the crime in a chilling manner. The incident came to light when Madhavi’s parents lodged a missing person complaint at the Meerpet police station on January 18 after she could not be traced.
According to the police, Gurumurthy, who now works as a security guard at a defence establishment, reportedly killed Madhavi following a domestic dispute. To dispose of her body, he chopped it into pieces, boiled the remains in a pressure cooker, and used a pestle to grind her bones before dumping the remains in a nearby lake.
Madhavi’s family grew suspicious after her sudden disappearance, and when questioned, Gurumurthy claimed that she had left the house in anger after an argument over visiting a relative’s house. However, the family was unconvinced by his explanation and approached the police for help.
