Revenue officials continue drives against encroachments in Rajendrangar

Intensifying the crackdown against encroachments over government lands and water bodies, the Revenue officials in Rajendranagar carried out six drives at a stretch in four months from November last year against the unlawful incursions.

Reinforced with the orders from higher-ups, the revenue officials pulled down several structures in Attapur, Rajendranagar, Mailardevpally, Shivrampally, Budvel and Ziaguda during the last four months.

A fresh one came on March 6 when a team of Revenue officials, led by Mandal Revenue Officer S.Chandrasekhar Goud, demolished some rooms and basements in Survey No. 115, at Mailardevpally area which is, according to the official, a ratified government land.

The team of officials, later, reached Orva Cheruvu lake at Shivrampally area and removed an unauthorised layout besides opening a drench that was purportedly closed down to pave way for plotting on the lake area.

Elucidating about today’s demolition drive, the MRO Rajendranagar S.Chandra Shekher said, “Upon finding that few encroachments have come up over the government land in Survey No. 115, at Mailardevpally few days back, we took up drive to clear the same today. We have demolished four rooms and five basements in Survey No. 115, which is a ratified government land. Similarly, upon receiving a complaint, we dismantled an unauthorised layout that comes up over Orva Cheruvu in Shivrampally.”

The fresh measure of Revenue officials against encroachments over government land comes within a month after they took up similar action at Budvel in January this year. The revenue team rolls out their machines to pull down several rooms in Survey No. 156 at Mailardevpally on November 26 followed by another such move on December 9 at Ziaguda.

Similar drive was carried out on December 23 at Mailardevpally. The revenue officials continued the drive even this year when they removed encroachments over Buffer Zone of Musi River on January 4 in Survey No. 35 at Attapur followed by similar measures against encroachments at Budvel on January 21.

Sending a strong message to the encroachers, the MRO said, “As long as the encroachments continue, there will be no let up from demolition drives even from the revenue department. The encroachers, how influential they are, will be dealt with relevant laws sooner or later to ensure protection of water bodies and government lands in Rajendranagar.”
