Roaming leopard causes fear amongst villagers in Nizamabad

As they are regularly seeing a leopard roaming freely in crowded areas, villagers of Mokkanpally village in Navipet mandal in Nizamabad district are in a state of panic.

Villagers have been filled with fear for the last four days and are too afraid to leave their homes due to leopard sightings. The majority of villagers are also too scared to tend to their agriculture fields on a regular basis.

It was reported that the leopard was spotted with its two cubs by villagers and that the leopard taught its cubs to hunt animals.

People said the leopard teaches its two cubs to hunt animals in the Mokkanpally suburb. One of the dogs owned by the owner of a brick kiln was killed by the leopard while it was hunting with its two cubs.

On Wednesday, all the workers fled when the leopard attacked the dog in a brick kiln right in front of them.

People did not dare to approach the leopard and two cubs when they were resting on the Mokanpally-Kamalapur road.

The leopard was seen walking from Mokanpally Kasturba Girls Educational Institution into the hills of the Kamalapur suburb, causing concern among the students. Despite villagers’ reports that the leopard roamed freely in the village vicinity, forest department officials have not yet responded.

Earlier this year, leopard pug marks had been found near Ummapur and its surrounding areas in Vanguru mandal in Nagarkurnool district. Locals who spotted the animal’s pug marks had quickly informed both the police and the forest departments of the occurrence.

Local villagers were too afraid to leave their homes since the news had spread like wildfire. Several villagers claim to have spotted the leopard itself in the same area, but their claims were difficult to verify.
