Rohit Sharma Could Miss First Test in Australia

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma might miss the first Test match of the upcoming 5-match series against Australia, beginning on November 22 in Perth. According to reports, Sharma has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of a pressing personal matter that could require him to skip either the Perth Test or the Adelaide Test, scheduled from December 6-10.

While there is no confirmation yet, BCCI sources suggest that Sharma’s participation in the series may depend on the resolution of his personal issue. If it can be resolved before the series begins, he could potentially play all five Tests.

Sharma recently led India to victory in the home Test series against Bangladesh. He is also set to captain the Indian team for the upcoming three-Test series against New Zealand, starting on October 16.

In case Sharma is unable to play, Abhimanyu Easwaran, who is in excellent form, could be a potential replacement. However, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul are also experienced options for the opening slot.
